how we think

we serve world changers.

World changers are the charities on the ground, working tirelessly to better people’s lives; the influencers, brands and personalities that use their reach for good; and extraordinary people like you who want to make a difference, and have fun doing it.

With your help...we’re building a community that leverages the power of story and technology to transform lives.

Storytelling is built into the fabric of Omaze. A good story well told has the power to open us to new ways of thinking, give us insight into the experiences of others, and ultimately make us more connected. The more connected we are, the more impact we can make together.

That’s where technology comes in. Our model democratizes traditional auction-giving by offering everyone the chance to have a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Through the Omaze platform, people from more than 170 countries have donated to over 150 charities, driving new levels of awareness and raising more money for charities.

How we’re...making giving fun and easy.

We see endless opportunities to reinvigorate the giving space and reduce friction when it comes to fundraising. There are so many organizations working to make a difference, but it’s hard for them to raise money in a continuous, sustainable way. Our goal is to make giving as fun and easy as possible, so everyone wins. You get the chance to live your dream experience, influencers support the causes they’re passionate about, and charities can spend less time fundraising, and more time making an impact.

How it all started.a short while back, Matt and Ryan went to a benefit that Magic Johnson was hosting...

...for the Boys & Girls Club of America. These guys are really big Magic fans. And when we say really big, we mean Matt cried so hard after they lost game 1 of the 1988 NBA Finals, his parents let him stay home from school the next day. He was 12.

So you can imagine how pumped they were for the chance to join their childhood hero courtside at a Laker game and then get dinner after. They thought about how amazing it’d be to win, to hang out with the man they idolized, to ask him everything about everything.

And then the auction got started. As broke college students, Matt and Ryan could do nothing but watch helplessly as the bidding reached $15,000.

On the drive home, they couldn’t stop talking about it. Why should life’s most amazing experiences only go to the rich? How could the most awesome prize in the history of mankind only raise $15,000 for such a great cause?

That’s when it hit them. What if they made these opportunities available online...

...and for a mere $10 donation anyone could win? More people would get involved, plus you’d raise a lot more money for these amazing causes. And here we are. Fast forward to a couple years later, and Magic happened. No, really—because of the incredible spirit of this community, we did an Omaze campaign with the one and only Magic Johnson!
